CATHERINE BOARD

Catherine Board is originally from Potomac, Maryland, her training includes time at Maryland Youth Ballet, Classical Ballet Theater, and she graduated from North Carolina School of the Arts. Catherine danced professionally for the Richmond Ballet, Nashville Ballet and Ballet Nouveau Colorado in a wide range of classical and contemporary works.

Catherine has recently continued her career by becoming the Company Teacher and Ballet Mistress of Ballet Nouveau. She guided the 19 member company in a variety of classes, rehearsals and performances throughout the season. She was also one of the main members to create the 21st Century Choreography Competition written about in Dance Magazine and used by the current artistic team of Ballet Nouveau. Catherine has most recently been the Ballet Coordinator for a young arts competition named TASHCO, which encourages the arts to young people and offers talented students scholarships. Catherine is currently teaching and inspiring the advanced students at Classic Dance Academy as well as teaching adults.

IGOR VASSINE

Igor Vassine was born in Tallinn, Estonia. He graduated from the Tallinn Ballet School of Estonian National Ballet, where he was a Principal for five years, upon his graduation. Vassine was a finalist in the Helsinki International Competition in Finland in 1990. Vassine joined Colorado Ballet in 1991 and quickly became an audience favorite. In 1997 Vassine was featured on the cover of Dance Magazine. Vassine has performed all major classical roles, including those in Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle and La Sylphide, Christopher Wheeldon’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Basilio in Don Quixote, Franz in Coppélia, Prince Charming in Cinderella, La Bayadere and Le Corsaire. He has also performed as a guest artist in Japan. During his career Vassine has worked with many well-known choreographers and repetiteurs and performed in many countries around the world.
