General Information 2011-2012

MISSION STATEMENT The Classic Dance Academy Performing Company program provides a unique and fulfilling dance experience to every student at Classic Dance Academy. We are dedicated to our craft and the training and conditioning that it takes to be successful. We are a performing company first, a competitive team second. We take pride in our dancing by our actions and the dedication we show in our work. We are an elite group of dancers who strive to give back to the community through our dancing and wish to inspire a love of our craft to others.

AUDITIONS Auditions will be held annually with two auditions held at CDA The first audition will be held May 21, 2011, secondary "make up" audition held on June 17, 2011
4:00-5:00pm--ages 5-8
5:00-5:30pm--all boys ages 5 and up ("Classic Dudes" Performers)
5:30-6:30pm--ages 9-12
6:30-7:30pm--ages 13 and up
Registration opens 30 minutes prior to your audition time. There is a $20 audition fee.
A FULL COMPANY ROSTER WILL BE COMPLETED AND ANNOUNCED BY JUNE 25, 2011.

TRAINING EXPECTATIONS: Company Dancers are expected to attend a certain number of dance classes per week according to age and ability. They are as follows but not limited to:

5-8 years: 1 ballet, 1 jazz/tap combo or 1 jazz
8-10 years: 1 ballet, 1 jazz, 1 tap OR lyrical
9-12 years: 2 ballet, 1 jazz, 1 tap OR lyrical
13+ years: 3 ballet, 1 jazz, 1 lyrical, 1 technique class
Dancers will not be cast in a dance if they do not study that genre. Example: if a student doesn't take Hip-Hop she/he will not be in the Hip Hop pieces.

* HIP HOP ONLY DANCERS Dancers interested in hip hop only are required to take 1 hip hop and 1 class of your choice for your training. The production number is also required with the entire company. This policy pertains to hip hop ONLY.

REHEARSAL EXPECTATIONS: Rehearsals will start on Friday, August 5, 2011 for choreography intensive to set/learn pieces and will be considered mandatory. Regular rehearsals will begin the week of August 22, 2011. We will provide a monthly schedule 1-2 months ahead of time. We rehearse 3 weeks out of the month, with 1 weekend off to provide dancers, instructors, and their families the ability to balance life outside of our doors.

COMPETITIONS AND PERFORMANCES: Classic Dancers will participate in community events, an annual company performance in January 2012 and local dance competitions and conventions. We will participate in one convention in the fall and 3 competitions starting in January 2012. A schedule of competitions will be released as soon as the dates are made available from each company. Each routine your dancer participates in will require a separate fee from each competition company. This is not included in your monthly company fee. Detailed fee information will be given in a timely manner.

FINANCIAL OUTLINE: A monthly company fee is due on the 1st of each month in addition to your monthly tuition. Company dues are as follows based on how many dances a dancer participates in:
2-4 dances: $55 monthly
5-7dances: $65 monthly
8+dances: $75 monthly
There is a one-time choreography fee for each dance you participate in. The amount is at the discretion of the choreographer and is based on number of students and the number of rehearsals. Charges range from $25 -$35 and are due the first day of rehearsals in August. The choreography fee will be listed when students are chosen for their pieces. The list will be available June 25th, 2011.
ALL CLASSIC DANCERS ARE REQUIRED TO DO A MINIMUM OF 2 DANCES, ONE OF WHICH IS THE PRODUCTION NUMBER.

A costume deposit of $300 is due by Monday, July 25th. This will go directly towards each dancer's Company warm up suit and t-shirt.
Company members are required to have the following:
*Company t-shirt
*Company warm-up suit
*Black jazz pants*
*Black jazz shoes*
*Pink ballet shoes*
*Tan jazz shoes*
*Company jewelry
*Company make-up kit
*MUST BE PURCHASED AT DANCE X-TREME DANCEWEAR
Company t-shirt and warm-ups will be special order through Classic Dance Academy.
